Do you take bookings?

We are now taking bookings for breakfast and lunch on a trial basis but are keeping the majority of our seats back for walk-ins. You can always book for afternoon tea.

Can I book a table for a mix of Afternoon Tea and Lunch?

Unfortunately, we are unable to mix Afternoon Tea and Lunch at the same table. Our afternoon tea experience is designed to include unlimited tea and americano coffee, which is unique to that particular service. Additionally, our lunch and afternoon tea menus are prepared in separate kitchens, which is why we need to keep them separate.

However, we are more than happy to cater to any dietary requirements or allergies that you or your guests may have, including vegan and gluten-free options.

Are you dog friendly?

Whilst we don’t allow dogs inside (except guide dogs), all of our outdoor areas are dog friendly.

Where are you located?

We have three locations:

Maldon High Street Tea Room: We are the big pink building on the High Street, opposite WHSmiths and next to the Thomas Plume Library. Our entrance is down Bright’s Path.

Kiosk at Maldon’s Promenade Park: Located just opposite the amphitheatre overlooking the lake.

Wickham Bishops: Located at the old Mitre Pub.

What ages do you welcome?

Whilst we do welcome guests of all ages, our tea room is best suited for those ages 12 and up.

Can you accommodate prams & babies?

We are delighted to welcome you and your little ones to our restaurant. We want to make sure that you have a comfortable and enjoyable dining experience with us. We are happy to provide high chairs for your child at the table to make them feel included in your meal.

However, we do have limited space for prams in our restaurant. Although we cannot guarantee space around a table for prams, we will do our best to accommodate your needs. If we are unable to do so, we may kindly ask you to leave the pram in the hallway or outside if there is no more room. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

If you have a newborn baby who is not yet able to sit in a high chair, we highly recommend booking for our Afternoon Tea service, where we can ensure that there is enough space around the table for the pram. Please note that we do not take bookings for breakfast or lunch.

If you have any further questions or would like to book for Afternoon Tea, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Can I hire out a private room?

Yes, but only for Afternoon Tea. We can fit up to 22 people in one of our upstairs rooms and up to 12 in one of our downstairs rooms. The minimum for a room hire is 10 people and there is no room hire charge, only the cost of the Afternoon Tea. We are typically only able to accommodate larger group bookings from 3pm and you’d only be able to access the room from your booking time as we do have sittings prior to your arrival. We also take full payment of the afternoon tea plus service at the time of booking to secure the room. Please call us on 01621888863 to discuss your options.

Can I bring decorations?

Whist we do allow most decorations, there’s a few important things to note:

  • We don’t allow decorations that fix to the wall or ceiling as to not damage paintwork in our old listed building.
  • Please be considerate of confetti – this can significantly slow down our team when trying to clear up the table, especially if there is a sitting after yours.
  • You’ll only have access to your table or room from your booking time, so you wont be able to decorate before to this.

Do you have an allergy menu?

Yes, you can download our menus from each location’s web page. Please note that due to the current uncertainty of supplies due to BREXIT, covid and other 3rd party issues, we may change suppliers and therefor this allergy information may not be correct. Always inform your server of any allergies to ensure the kitchen can double check this for you.

Are you wheelchair friendly in Maldon High Street?

Yes, just! As you can see from the pictures below, our listed building can be a little tight and steep for some wheelchair users, but we do successfully host guests in wheelchairs quite often. There is a doorbell outside our front door, just press the button and someone will be out to assist you. The measurement at narrowest width is 73cm.

The wheelchair accessible toilet is not in our main building, we use the Bright’s Path Site’s accessible toilet located at the end of the path way.

Are you wheelchair friendly in Wickham Bishops?

While wheelchairs can get into the tea room with the help of a little ramp our listed building can be a little tight. Sadly there is currently no accessible toilet facility on site but we are working with the landlord and council on building a new facility on the grounds behind the building. We hope to be able to accommodate wheelchair users very soon and will update this section with more information once we have it.
